It is a time of self-celebration.
It's time to dance around the house, be grateful for the presents and the time from the those around me, and be thankful that I've made it this far in one piece (well, mostly! Some days my brain might disagree). It's a time to be happy, but I know it's now that way for everyone.
Do you have trouble celebrating yourself?
One of my friends absolutely hates having a birthday, they hate having all of the attention put on them, they hate people going out of their way to celebrate who they are, they hate the money spent on gifts and it absolutely breaks my heart that they feel so un-celebrate-able.
We all deserve to be celebrated, to have a day when we are the center of attention, where people do a little bit more for us, and when we feel waves of extra love from those around us. It's okay to accept that and to embrace it. Just in case you didn't know.
