My Wish for the New Year

Posted on 22:12 by Unknown
Today's prompt at Jamie Ridler's Studio is "What Is Your Wish For the New Year?"

About a hundred things all come zooming into my mind at once. There is so much that I want to manifest for next year. So many things that I want to learn, to teach, to share. I almost get overwhelmed thinking about it.

One of the things you do in Goddess Leonie's 'Creating my Goddess Year' Workbook is pick a word for the year. I have struggled for weeks over trying to figure out what that word should be.

'Surrender' has been floating around in my head and I decided, after two weeks, to surrender to surrender. I need to let go, I need to give up all of those pesky things that I no longer need. This past year I have grown by leaps and bounds. I have given forgiveness, I have let go, I have made miracles happen in my life. I am so proud of who I have become.

I still have work to do.

Another word, that popped up just today, was 'boundaries', and I realized that is probably the most important thing I need to learn. I'm a bit of an empath, which means that if you are sad and hurting, I feel it and want so badly to fix it. Other people's emotions are always effecting my mood and I have realized that I need to pull away from that. I need to let other people feel what they feel, and fix themselves, instead of trying to do it for them.

My wish for the new year is to 'Surrender' to love, to happiness, to forgiveness, to sorrow, and pain, and realize that I don't have to fight it. I don't have to over-analyze everything that happens. I can just be. I also wish to develop healthy boundaries for myself and to respect the boundaries of others.

What do you wish for the New Year?

Magic Manifesting: Winter Solstice

Posted on 07:49 by Unknown

Hello sweethearts! You might have noticed that I've been a little quiet around the blogosphere. That would be because I am hibernating! I have my nice little Dominee-Cave and wonderful things are happening during this time of hibernation. I have some great things planned for the New Year, plus I have been working on the Winter Blessings ebook which will be released any day now and I am so excited to share it with you.

I wanted to check in with you about my Word of the Month which was clarity. A lot of things have been transforming in my life over the past few months, situations, relationships, ideas, and I have wanted... and needed... clarity to really see into the hearts of those things. This month I have done deep thinking, I have created boundaries, I have looked closely at the things that I might otherwise not. I have made amends with the past and I am ready to embrace the future.

I know what I want.

So many gifts and blessings have been finding their way to me this month, so many lessons are being taught to me. I find myself being able to laugh joyfully and feel freely and it feels good. I've also been told to slow down. I've re-cooperated from a cold, I've pulled a muscle, and I've had circumstances that have made me miss huge chunks of sleep, and all of these not-so-pleasant things have given me clarity in the best way. A reminder to slow down, to wade at times instead of constantly submerging myself in all of my daily tasks and obligations.

Dominee needs to slow down and it's okay. More magic will happen if I take my time instead of rushing around trying to accomplish everything under the sun all at once.

This is a great lesson to learn.

Sooooo, the Solstice is almost here and I thought I would take this opportunity to share with you some information about the Winter Solstice from a Pagan perspective.

The Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year, it happens when the earth is tilted on its axis, farthest away from the sun, which means the official date of the Solstice changes each year. It usually falls around the 21st or 22nd and this year it is December 22nd. It is also the official start to Winter.

On this night we celebrate the rebirth of the sun. The Goddess gives birth to the Sun, the promise of the light returns. You can wake up before dawn and celebrate as the sun rises. Or the night before you can light candles to guide the sun back into the world.

It's always darkest before the dawn.

So very true.

Have a Magical Yule and check out my Winter Blessings ebook for all sorts of ideas on how to make Winter an awesome time for you.

Self Care: Love Letters

Posted on 07:45 by Unknown

Today, on Self Care Sunday I'm giving you all a little assignment.

I want you to write a love letter.

Guess who's the lucky recipient?

Yeah, that'd be you.

Self love, baby. I'm all about it and you should be to. There are no rules about this letter, other than it should be positive and loving. No negatives.

I want you to hear how proud you are of yourself.

(It makes sense if you think about it.)

I want you to tell yourself how totally kick ass you are.

How you are the best you that ever was. And you know that thing that your good at? Yeah, you know the one, I want you to talk about it. Acknowledge your skills and your talents.

Write about your greatness.

Keep the letter and whenever you feel down, read it and remember that moment of pouring out your love for yourself.

Did you write your letter? How'd it go?

Love Your Body: Anxiety Busting Blog Tour

Posted on 06:00 by Unknown

Guess what? Guess what?! Today I have my first ever guest blogger and I am so very excited! Gina Rafkind  at VedaSun has been an inspiration on my journey. As someone who has suffered from anxiety I have found a lot of wisdom in her blog and in her products.I hope you enjoy!

Welcome to the Anxiety Busting Blog Tour!

This is a guest post by Gina Rafkind and the fifth stop on her Anxiety Busting Blog Tour. Gina's mission is to share awareness tips and tools in order to help other creative women who suffer with anxiety to wake up to their life so they can confidently unleash and share their gifts with the world. Gina says it's time to stop holding back and hiding out and time to create more freedom, love and connection! Enjoy!

Count Every Blessing
~ and that includes your body

Have you ever felt like your body is your enemy?
You wake up in the morning and the first thing you think is
"Ugh, my stomach is so bloated and big."

Or other thoughts may flow through your mind such as:

I'm so fat!
Why did I get this sickness?
I'm so weak.
Why can't I look like her?
My hair's so flat.
Why is my body doing this to me?

Have you ever thought that if you didn't have a body, you wouldn't be here right now.....living on this earth and breathing in the air? Our body gives us a chance to experience life. And that includes ALL of life...the ups and the downs.

It also houses our inner self and that is the reason we get to experience this life. It also has an outer covering, called skin, that protects us from harmful substances entering our body. It has hair to keep our head warm (and if you don't have hair, there's a head to put a hat onto). It contains feet so we can travel upon the earth. It has hands that allow us to feel and experience different textures and arms to allow us to hug another person and even our self. We have eyes to see those we love and the magnificent colors of the earth. We have ears to hear birds chirp and ocean waves crashing. We have a nose to smell flowers, apple pies and fresh cut grass. We have a mouth to taste succulent fruit, that apple pie and of course, dark chocolate :).

So why is it that we sometimes look at our body with disgust and loathing?

One reason is that we have expectations of our body to look a certain way, and if it doesn't look that way, then that causes us to suffer. Our suffering may show itself as anxiety, sadness, anger or resentfulness. If our body does not perceive to be, in our eyes, beautiful, slender, strong and healthy, then we end up treating it as the enemy and end up not taking care of it.

And I want you to know that this is not all your fault. A lot of these expectations come from the conditioned mind. As we were growing up, we were influenced by our parents, teachers, siblings and other community members. We were told that our body is something that we need to control and that giving our body what we need is selfish. We were told to eat three meals a day, go to college, get a 9-5 job, get married, have children, go to sleep at a certain time etc.

How many of you have ever been told that if you don't eat all the food on your plate, you'll spend the rest of the night in your room and you will not be allowed to eat anything else for the rest of the night? What if your body was telling you that you're full, and that the food you're being forced to eat really isn't the best for your body type? We didn't listen because we couldn't.....we were told to ignore the body.....and that someone else knows what's best for us.

Once again, the wisdom of the body is shut down.

This whole process causes a lot of conflict within our mind.
Although we get a message from our body which comes through as a feeling, we end up not acting on that inner wisdom because we were taught it's not the norm to do it that way. This causes us to distrust our body at a very early age.

So what do we do now? How do we start to form a better relationship with our body? How do we begin to trust the wisdom of our body?

The key to beginning to trust your body again is to Love Your Self….all of you…and that includes your body.

Here are a few tips on how to start the journey back to Loving Your Self and Your Body:

~ Write down everything that you were told you 'should' do when you were growing up...what you were told to eat, how to exercise, how to feel, etc.

~ Write down what you were told you should 'look like'.

~ Write down all the expectations you have of how you should look and 'be'.

~ Sit quiet with yourself for 5 minutes each day. Close your eyes and bring your attention fully into your body and notice what feelings and emotions surface. Allow them to be there without judging them.

The writing process allows you to bring into your awareness all the 'shoulds' that you were told. It allows you to look at them and consider whether or not you still want to believe them. It allows you not to be as identified with them because you have brought them into your awareness.

The sitting quiet process allows you to begin to tap back into the wisdom of your body and your intuition. By being with your Self each day, you will begin, in time, to discover what it is that you truly want. You will notice, in time, that you will intuitively begin to choose those things that are good for you…you will know what to eat, you will know what form of movement works for you, and much more.

You will know these things because you are finally paying attention to your body - the house of your Spirit. And you will Love your Body just as it is, realizing it has been a friend that has truly been there for you all along...doing whatever it needs to do until you once again remember its presence.

As you continue this process, healing takes place.....your anxiety will lessen as your suffering decreases.
Healing happens by working through anxiety, not by fighting against of trying to cure it.

So count all your blessings and love your Self…all of YOU…every little teeny tiny part…and know how special you truly are.

If you'd like to learn more on how to heal anxiety, I am holding a free hour-long, content rich teleclass in which you will learn:

~ One of the MAIN, KEY factors that causes anxiety and how to break free from it. This key factor I will be talking about is a main player that most people with anxiety experience and bringing awareness to it will release the grip of anxiety and bring more freedom and spaciousness to your life.

~ During this call I will also give you a preview of my new anxiety busting program that starts on January 23, 2012 (the day of the first new moon of 2012….a wonderful time for new beginnings :).

I'm Rex from Toy Story!!! Rawr!!

Posted on 05:53 by Unknown
Hello my Lovebugs, how are you today? I'm hanging out at home, nursing a bit of a cold that has me coughing like mad. It's absolutely no fun. I hate being sick, but I've noticed the last few days I've retreated, taken time to care for myself, and practiced tons of self care. If anything, being sick is a reminder to slow down and listen to my body.

It's also the perfect time to lounge about in my jammies and be silly. Last month I was browsing blogs and Gaelach over at Musings of Magick mentioned a cute little book called Disneystrology (a play on astrology) and it looked so fun that I had to buy it. This book has a page for each day of the year featuring a different Disney character. You look up which day you were born to see what attributes from a character you're supposed to have. It's pretty cool!

As I'm sure you can tell from the title, I am Rex from Toy Story which I think is pretty much the best thing ever. Here's what it says about me:

You are concerned about your place in society. Even though you are cared for and capable, you can let your fears and self doubt get the best of you. With the help of supportive friends, you accomplish things you never thought possible. When you aren't trying so hard, you can be heroic. In the end you realize that believing in yourself is all you have to do.

My keywords are: Genuine, Sensitive, Obliging

It made me giggle because it's pretty accurate and I'm a complete spaz just like him. I keep thinking of the scene in Toy Story 3 where he gets SO excited because he's going to have kids to play with. Yeah, I get that excited too! Hahaha. If you pop over to my facebook page and post the month and day you were born on my status, I'd be more than happy to tell you what character you are! You'll have to buy the book to learn your attributes though. :p

Self Care: Mirror, Mirror

Posted on 07:20 by Unknown
Hello my sweet, sweet, darlings. Today it's cold here in Oklahoma (we might even get SNOW tomorrow) but I'm staying warm with my soft, fuzzy, green blanket and blue, green, purple, and turquoise fuzzy socks. I love soft, fuzzy, things! It's another Self Care Sunday and I want to share with you a very powerful practice of self love. I first learned about it in Louise L. Hay's You Can Heal Your Life. (You can read my book review here)

One of my favorite exercises in this book is The Mirror. You take a mirror, look into it, looking at your reflection and you say "I love and accept you exactly as you are."

Can you do this for me?

When you're done reading this, go stand in a front of a mirror. If you don't have a big mirror a little one will work, even a compact mirror will do. Look into the mirror, look yourself in the eye. Can you do this? If you feel uncomfortable at first it's okay, it will get easier. Now say those three little words, you know the ones, "I love you".

How does that feel?

Good? Awkward? Silly? It's okay, it's a good start, and if you've done it before then keep doing it! It's a great practice. It's a great self-love routine.

I would do this before I went to bed as a little daily ritual. After awhile, I wasn't just saying that I loved myself. I was telling myself how beautiful I was, praising myself for that awesome thing I accomplished that day, how wonderfully silly I was, how wonderful, how beautiful, how rock-your-socks-off amazing.

It is now a daily dialogue of all the things that I love about myself. It's my cheerleading time. My Dominee-is-awesome time. I think we all need that. We all need that rush of positivity, especially on our sad days.

So get that mirror, look at the reflection there, and realize how beautiful, sexy, and sacred you are.

Boundaries, you need to have them!

Posted on 07:28 by Unknown
Hi there! Today I wanted to leave you a little love note, a very important message that I need for you to know.

It is okay to have boundaries.

It is okay to tell people "no". It is okay to stand up for yourself and speak out when someone is not treating you the way you deserve to be treated.

Sometimes in life we come across people who push our boundaries, or make us wish that we had boundaries to begin with. You know the ones, the ones that we allow to put us down because we don't want to be confrontational or cause problems. The ones that say or do things that rub us the wrong way and make us feel uncomfortable. Who take from us without giving back and make us feel used. We all know someone like that. You might let it go, you might make excuses, even justify it and blame yourself, but there's something that you ought to know:

No one has the right to make you feel uncomfortable in your own skin.

No one has the right to put you down.

No one has the right to make you doubt yourself or believe that you are not filled to the brim with greatness and potential ready to spill over.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”  Eleanor Roosevelt

So don't give your consent. Don't brush it off and allow it to be okay, because you are worth more than that.

I know it and you should too.

If you don't have boundaries make them. Put your foot down, put your fences up, and let people know that you do have boundaries, that your sense of self and your self esteem are off-limits. It's worth it. It is worth it to be surrounded by people who support you or at least keep their negativity to themselves.

You know who you are.

You know what gifts are hiding within you so surround yourself with those who will nurture that and not try to take it away from you.

You deserve the best, my dear. Each and every day.

Love,

Embracing Clarity and Truth

Posted on 03:45 by Unknown
Happy December my sweeties! It's a new month and you know what that means? Time for a new beginning! Time for us to set some intentions and be mindful about what we want to manifest this month. What do you want to accomplish this month? It can be something as simple as not letting the stress of the holidays cause your head to explode. Feel free to pop over to the FB Page and join the discussion on what your Word-of-the-Month is. My word for this month is:

Clarity.

I was inspired by this morning's Oracle Reading, where I pulled Sylvanius from Brian Froud's The Faeries Oracle Deck. I thought I would share his message with you.

Sylvanius: Truth. Cutting through deception. Clarity.
Sylvanius is the Lord of the woodlands, his crown of antlers signifying his authority. In his hands he holds the Mask of Truth. He hands us the mask, allowing us to look inside of ourselves so that we can discover our truth.

It may seem odd that there is a Mask of Truth, usually masks are used to hide the truth, not reveal it. Sylvanius tells us that first we put the mask on to hide and then you take it off to reveal the truth. That's faery logic for you.

This is the time to discover new truths about yourself.  They are essential for you to know in order to create relationships based on mutual respect, affection, and trust. These things only work if we see the truth within ourselves and within others. The Faeries act as giant mirror so that we can see who we really are. Most people tend to dread this because

we assume that we are worse than we think we are. But this isn't always true, maybe you are greater and better than you ever imagined.

So this month I am taking a good look at myself and everything around me and allowing myself to see what is true. What's your word for the month my sweetheart?

Wishcasting: Treasures I Wish For

Posted on 23:10 by Unknown
Hello my fellow Wishmakers!

This week's prompt at Jamie Ridler Studios "What treasures do you wish for?" kind of threw me for a loop. I keep thinking "What do you wish to treasure?" Which is pretty much everything and everyone! But what treasures do I wish for? Well that is a whole different story.

My life feels so full right now. So it's difficult to actually wish for something I don't have. Not to say that next week I won't be wishing for everything under the Sun. But today, today is a good day. And I realized that there is something that I want. I want the treasure of friendship. If you've been a reader of my blog for awhile then you've read Why I Am A Bad Friend. I'm still getting used to this friendship thing, still trying to figure out how to relate, how to give space, how to be there. No one ever told me it was this complicated!

I wish to create more friendships, more treasures, with the people around me. I am still realizing how important it is to have friendships and how wonderful they are. I wish to continue to heal the friendships that have been broken in the past. I wish to forgive the friends that have let me down and to realize that no one is perfect.

Here is to friendship and I hope you are all blessed with such a treasure!

Magic Manifesting: Prayer

Posted on 07:11 by Unknown
Magic Manifesting, whoo hoo! Time to get our magic on! Are you ready!? One of the most powerful acts of Magic is prayer, after all, praying is a type of magic. Beautiful, powerful, soul-to-Universe, connection.

There are so many ways to pray and I believe all of them have a certain beauty to them. I wanted to share with you my thoughts.

I pray in a variety of ways.

I talk to my Gods every day in many different forms. I believe that prayer should be a part of daily life, it allows us to stay connected to the Universe, to God in what ever name you call him. It allows us to truly recognize the things in our life that we are grateful for.

Prayer is defined as: A solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God or an object of worship.

I disagree that it has to be a solemn request for help. Solemn is boring. Sure there's a time and a place for solemn but I don't think I would like praying half as much if I had to stop and be solemn to do it. Something I say on a regular basis is "Gods, please let this day be filled with joy and awesomeness." Nothing solemn about that! Expressing joy, happiness, and gratitude is much more my kind of thing.

I see my relationship with God as any other type of relationship and all relationships require an output of energy, an exchange if you will, and communication to be fulfilling. When you are going through a crisis of faith, a Dark Night of the Soul, that is the time to have more conversation, to pray more. Like I said, it's a relationship.

If you were having issues with your partner, going about your day/week/month, completely ignoring them wouldn't fix anything. Pretending that they weren't part of your life until you needed something from them wouldn't be very healthy or fulfilling. It takes work, and it takes time, but all of the wonderful things in life worth having do!

Whatever you believe, make it a part of your daily life. It will change you in miraculous ways.

My deities that I have close relationships with, are Aphrodite, Hestia, and Shiva and I pray to them in different ways because every relationship is different. Randomly throughout the day I say thank you to them. I write love letters in a journal devoted to Aphrodite every day before I go to sleep. Shiva is a God that dances and I dance for him to show my gratitude and my joy. While I do household chores or while I'm cooking I talk with Hestia. I love how all of my relationships are different. This is all a form of prayer to me and it enriches my life.

How do you pray?

Self Care: Tea

Posted on 06:42 by Unknown
Today's Self Care Topic is all about tea! Tea is my go to drink for relaxation and it works! Just the smell of it, watching the steam float up from the cup, soothes me and instantly makes me feel a little bit better.

So, tea! In case you've never made tea before, and I know a few people that haven't, it's really easy. There's the traditional way, of getting a tea kettle, boiling water, pouring it into a cup, add a tea bag, let it steep, add sweetener if you so desire, and voila. I usually do things the easiest way and that's microwaving a cup of water until it's hot, add a teabag, and sugar. Admittedly, I am a the-faster-the-results-the-better kind of girl. I will admit to you that doing it the longer way does taste better.

If you are really feeling adventurous you can use loose tea leaves or herbs, pop them in a tea ball and come up with your own flavors.

My favorite kind of tea is herbal tea, which isn't actually "tea" at all, as it doesn't usually have tea leaves in it. Herbal teas include herbs, fried fruits, and flowers and is almost always caffeine free, which is why it's great for relaxation and perfect for your bed time routine.

My favorite tea brands:

Celestial Seasonings- This tea company is my FAVORITE tea provider because not only do they have a ton of flavors, they all taste amazing. My favorite flavor is Sleepytime, seeing the sleeping bear on the box always makes me think of when my grandmother would let me sip her tea. It's a wonderful blend of lemongrass, mint, and chamomile and my favorite ever!

Tazo - Is another brand that I like. My favorite Tazo tea is "Zen" and it's absolutely delicious. It is green tea, lemon verbena, and spearmint and has a more mellow taste than Celestial Seasoning's Sleepytime.

Yogi Teas - are quick becoming a favorite. This line of teas is more into herbal supplements but they still taste great. This is a great brand to use if you have health issues. There are tons of teas for joint pain, immune support, stomach and digestive troubles, sore throats, and colds. They also have a tea line just for women, including pregnancy, lactation, and female reproductive health. Another plus, they are all organic!

So go brew yourself a cup of tea, breathe it in, relax, and enjoy.

What is your favorite tea? Comment here or tell me on Facebook!

Things I Love: Fanfiction, Vampire Diaries, Dragonlance

Posted on 05:38 by Unknown
I decided to bring back the "Things I Love posts" because they're fun and I'd love for you to get to know me on a different level. I'd love to get to know you too so feel free to hang out with me on facebook sometime. One of my favorite tv shows is The Vampire Diaries. You might be laughing right now but I swear it's an awesome series. I never really got into Twilight Mania and I'm lukewarm on the whole vampire thing, but this series is amazeballs.

The premise of the show is two vampire brothers, one good -Stefan and one evil(ish) - Damon, both in love with a human girl named Elena who looks exactly like the vampire who turned them 150 years ago. I know it sounds cheesy but the layers of depth to each character, especially Stefan and Damon is just mindblowing. Every episode leaves you screaming at the tv "Did that REALLY just happen?!" The writers for this show are Gods at a good cliff hanger. Also, unlike most love triangles I don't have a clear favorite and I love rooting for both of the brothers.

Another thing that I love is reading, although I am sure that you know this. I spent the majority of my childhood lost in books and it was pretty much the best thing ever in my opinion. (I've always been a bit strange).

One of the series that I loved getting lost in was Dragonlance. For you non-geeks, the Dragonlance Series was inspired by the game Dungeons and Dragons (which I've only "kinda" played but it was a complete blast). Anyway, there are almost 200 Dragonlance novels and my favorite is the one that started it all. Dragons of Autumn Twilight is about a group of Adventurers, a half-elf, dwarf, a kender, a few humans, and a mage with golden skin and pupils in the shape of hourglasses, (His name is Raistlin and I love him the most) and their journey to rediscover magic and the Gods.

I also love reading fanfiction at Fanfiction.net it is all sorts of awesome to read stories about your favorite characters where they do crazy things, or things that you always wanted them to do, or couples get together that you always wanted to get together. I write Harry Potter fanfic and it is a blast!

And last but not least, here is a song that I love. If this doesn't make you want to get up and dance then you're pretty hopeless.

So I want to know, what do you love?

Wisdom Cards: I Am Kali

Posted on 08:58 by Unknown

I figured I would mix things up a little bit today and instead of a one of Louise L Hay's Wisdom Cards I am sharing a card from the Oracle of Shadows and Light by Lucy Cavendish.

The card I pulled today was:

I am Kali - From Death comes rebirth

Kali is the blue-skinned Hindu Goddess of birth, death, and rebirth. She represents destruction as it is her role to clear away those things that are no longer needed. She is often seen weilding a sword and wearing the severed heads of her enemies around her neck. Kali is very strong, very powerful, and very protective. She is fierce and can be frightening, but when you allow yourself to understand her purpose she can help you with painful transitions. Allow her to assist you in letting go what is no longer needed.

Kali is the dancer who moves through the fire, severing the things that have tangled you. She is not afraid of death, she faces it head on and fearless. To her, every act of destruction is also an act of creation. She has come to help you clear away the obstacles on your path. It is time to destroy what you have longed to let go of.

It is time to release the fear that is stopping you from greatness.

Kali will give you the strength to purify your life and purge it of negativity if you are willing to do the work. She will not let you sit idly by, this is a time for action. Can you do what needs to be done? Can you walk forward without hesitation?

If you are interested in a personal Oracle Reading (Absolutely free!) Then enter the newest contest!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishcasting Wednesday: What I wish to remember

Posted on 00:45 by Unknown

Hello fellow Wishcasters! This week's prompt over at Jamie Ridler Studios is what do you wish to remember? This one was so easy for me. First of all:

Thank you.

Last week's prompt brought with it such an out pouring of love and support. I can't tell you how many times my eyes teared up reading all of your comments as I realized that I already do make a difference.

My faults and insecurities aside, I am making a difference. What a wonderful thing to realize, and even more wonderful to celebrate. I realized that if one thing that I do/write/share causes someone to feel better or brings them happiness, then I am succeeding in everything that I want to do.

I wish to remember that I make a difference. I want you to remember that too. It's true, I believe that with my whole being. All of us are making a difference with our voices. We teach, we share our souls, we shine lights on those dark, hidden parts of ourselves so that others don't feel so alone, we support one another.

We wish together.

Everything you do can make a difference to somebody.

You make a difference to me.

Thank you.

Magic Manifesting: Tarot and Oracle Cards

Posted on 07:36 by Unknown

It's Magic Manifesting Monday, which means it's time for your weekly dose of magic and witchery! Today I wanted to talk a little bit about one of the most popular forms of Divination: tarot and oracle cards.

Now, you'll find all sorts of reasonings as to the how tarot and oracle cards work. My personal belief is that the cards are guided by our Higher Selves. I think that our Spirits are very wise and know things that we don't normally have access to. It's all a matter of being still and asking that part of us for guidance.

I am by no means an "expert", but I do feel a kinship with my cards. I feel different energies from them and have always found my readings to be honest and affirming. Sometimes I dislike what they say, but it's similar to asking a friend for advice, sometimes you're going to hear what you don't want to hear.

I had a practice at the beginning of the year of doing a reading at the beginning of every week and then documenting what cards turned up. I was going through a really tough time in my life then. I was having a lot of problems with my best friend at the time. She and I had pretty much ended our friendship and I remember getting either the Three of Swords or the Nine of Swords in almost every reading. These cards represent heartbreak and depression, which was exactly what I was going through.

Not only do the cards affirm what we already know, but they act as a guide when we are facing difficult situations, they can unearth issues that we have buried and not dealt with, and most importantly they facilitate the belief in your intuition.

You are powerful, you are wise, you are magical.

If you are just starting out in learning about tarot cards I recommend getting acquainted with Oracle Cards first. Oracle cards are an easier version of the tarot, each card has a clear message for you. I usually pull one card when I need quick and easy advice without having to look for a deeper meaning.

My favorite tarot deck is the Llewellyn Tarot and my favorite oracle decks are Brian Froud's (of Labyrinth and Dark Crystal fame) The Faeries' Oracle, Lucy Cavendish's Oracle of Shadows and Light, and Doreen Virtue's Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards.

Do you have any experience with tarot cards? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both negative and positive. Especially your favorite decks!

Self Care: Nature Walks

Posted on 07:56 by Unknown

Good morning my dear ones! It's time for Self Care Sunday. Hopefully you've been taking good care of yourself! This time of the year is stressful for a lot of us. We have Thanksgiving, dealing with our families, we have to start thinking about our Christmas shopping. We have so much stress in our lives, which means we have to balance it out with taking care of ourselves. There's a great way to do this.

It's also completely free.

Go outside! I know, simple right? If you're a parent you've probably told your kids more than once, to "go outside and play". It isn't good to be cooped up all day, in front of the computer or television, on the cellphone, stuck behind our desks, or busy with work. You need to go outside too!

Studies have shown that being out in nature is a great healer. Taking walks, even short ones, are good for you. It's a great way to get a little exercise and has a lot of other benefits. Walking out in nature can reduce stress, lower your blood pressure, decrease your risk of depression, and relax you. If you're a fan of Mama Earth like I am, it can bring you closer to God/Universe/Divine. All of those benefits just by taking a few minutes to walk around the block or through the park.

Make sure that this month you are paying close attention to your stress levels and putting you first!

Have you spent some time outside this week?

Love Notes: It's going to be okay.

Posted on 06:54 by Unknown
Hello my sweetlings. I wrote this a few days ago when I was having a rough time and I wanted to share it today.

"Today is one of those days where I am just bubbling over with anxiety. I hate for it to be quiet. I hate for there to be a microsecond of silence. Right now, while I write, I am also watching tv on my computer. The moment the show ends, and there's that stretch of silence I panic until there's sound again. The sound chases away the thoughts, you know? It gives me something else to concentrate on.

I have to face the silence eventually.

I have a message for you and for me:

It will be okay.

Take a deep breath.

If you aren't ready to deal with it today. That's okay.

Realize that it will get better. Maybe not today.

Maybe not even tomorrow.

But it will get better.

I promise.

I cross my heart.

So deep, deep, breath. As deep as you can.

You know that person that always makes you laugh?

Talk to them.

Or that thing that makes you giggle wildly.

Go do it.

Surround yourself with love in its very many forms.

It will pull you through.

It's going to be okay.

Wisdom Cards: I Deserve Only Good

Posted on 08:22 by Unknown
Hey you, my sweet, sweet, darling. This is a little reminder asking you if you're taking care of you? It's a stressful time of the year and I am your Self-Care Fairy, buzzing around your head, reminding you to do something good for you. You are the only you that you know, so avoid burn-out and stress. Take some time to relax. As this week's Wisdom Card tells us, "I deserve only good in my life." The flip side of the card says: "I release other people's fears and limitations, I think my own loving thoughts."

I want you to feel it, I want you to believe it. Take a deep breath... deeper... let it out. Take a look at your life right now. Are you stressed out about what someone else wants or expects out of you? If so, try to let that go. Put it aside for now, look at it, does it suit you? Is it for your own good? If not then let it go.

You really don't have to do anything you don't want to do, you know?

Remember to be kind to yourself, care about yourself, talk to yourself like you would your dearest friend, and if you need to, tell yourself to slow down.

You deserve only good,

Wishcasting Wednesday: My Greatest Wish

Posted on 00:04 by Unknown

Oh how I love Wishcasting Wednesday! Today's prompt is "What is your greatest wish?" This one brought up an immediate response for me. My greatest wish is to be a bright light in the world.

It is also the scariest wish I could make for myself.

I've spent my whole life being timid. Never wanting to be in the spotlight. I was that girl in the library reading during lunch because I had no one to sit with. I missed out on Prom and Graduation because I didn't have it in me to go.

I've grown so much since then, but I still have things holding me back. I don't know if those things are an integral part of who I am, or things that I need to overcome to be my true self.

How do you balance who you were meant to be with who you want to be? Or is there really a difference? It just feels like I was born a Mouse and now I am doing all of this work to become a Lion. I almost feel like I am being disloyal to who I really am to become something I want to be, but something I am inherently not.

Whoa, did this just get deep and rambly.

I suppose I just need to believe that I was born the Lion and everything else is just challenges and obstacles to being my true self. It's all in your perspective right?

So, I think now my greatest wish is to have the courage and dedication to be the bright light that I know I can be. To help and inspire. To be creative and artistic. To share myself, my heart, and my gifts and to make a difference.

That's a pretty great wish.

Book Review: The Goddess of Happiness

Posted on 07:06 by Unknown
Everyone could use a little happiness, especially in November with the Holidays coming up. The energy this month is just kicking my ass. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions and anxiety and I am quite ready to get off!

I feel so rushed to get things done and I just need to slow down and relax. I am in need of a lazy day, asap! Don't get me wrong. I love creating, and being busy, but sometimes it's so nice to do nothing. (Speaking of creating, have you checked out my mini meditation page and the desktop wallpapers?)

Today's book review is one that is great to have if you need a little brightness in your day but not a lot of time to get it.

The Goddess of Happiness by Debbie Gisonni is a cute little book that I picked up last year. It's 168 pages of short and simple ways to improve your happiness. The book starts out with a little quiz to see if you are a Goddess of Happiness. If you don't pamper yourself very often, if you're constantly busy and never have time for "you" then this book will help you slow down and put yourself first.

This book has 44 little sections on ways to find happiness. Each section has a few pages about a topic, five ways to embrace that topic, and then affirmations you can say to Think it. Say it. Feel it.

There are some great suggestions in this book. Notice what makes your heart flutter and do it more often. Don't respond to rudeness with more rudeness. Feel grateful, not guilty, when someone helps you. Honor your inner child by playing first and working later every once and awhile.

The affirmations are equally as lovely: I am embraced by gratitude every day. I love myself and my life. I am uniquely perfect in many ways. I cherish and own my life, which is uniquely mine.

The perfect book for implementing a little bit of happiness and awareness into your day!

On a sidenote this quote from one of my favorite authors made me giggle:
"My goodness! - Or somebody else's goodness if mine isn't substantial
enough!" - L.M. Montgomery

Magic Manifesting: Jar Candle Magic

Posted on 05:56 by Unknown
Good morning dear hearts!

It's Monday so that means I want to talk magical, witchy, things. I figured I'd start off with something easy to do with something that you probably have around your house. Next to prayer, which is the most basic magical thing you can do, candle magic is pretty simple.

I have several ways of doing candle magic, it really all depends on what is easiest for me and what I have at hand. Not to mention I love candles. Who doesn't? They create a wonderful ambiance and they smell nice!

The point of candle magic is to put your intent into a candle and then burn the candle to release your intent out into the world. Pretty simple, no? I usually use candle magic to promote peace and calm within my life and my home. You can light the candle and let it burn all of the way through or you can light, and relight, the candle at intervals. I have a specific lavender candle that I light when I'm upset and need to calm down. Once I feel better I blow it out.

I'm going to tell you about my favorite type of candle magic which is jar candle magic. I actually came up with this concept myself but I'm sure you could find it in a book somewhere. All you need is one of those candles that come in a jar, a permanent marker, and your intent.

Say that you want to let go of anxiety and bring peace into your life. Write the word 'Peace' on the jar with the permanent marker, then hold the candle in your hand, imagining a peaceful feeling coming over yourself. Envision calm and peace flowing through your hands and into the candle and then light it.

Voila, it's magic.

I've written whole prayers on the bigger jars and it's a beautiful practice for me. On my Ancestor Altar I have a big lilac candle (my grandmother's favorite scent) and on the jar I've written words of love to her. Whenever I am thinking about her, or want to feel close to her, I light the candle in honor of her memory and recite the little prayer.

So that's how a candle and a permanent marker is one of my most powerful and magical practices.

Blessed Be,

(And that totally rhymes, hehehe)

Self Care: Lazy Days

Posted on 17:14 by Unknown
Hello my lovely tribe and welcome to another Self Care Sunday, where we talk about the things that we can do to make our selves feel good, pampered, and loved.

Today we're going to talk about lazy days!

Yes, I spoke the blasphemous "L" word. Lazy, lazy, lazy, say it with me. LAZY.

If you are like me, then the thought of doing nothing for a whole day, or even just an afternoon, fills you with "But I have this to do... and this... and this..."  The only time I actually spend any significant amount of time relaxing in bed is when I am in the depths of depression.

Which tells me that it's one of the ways I heal. One of the ways I get in touch with me. It's one of my medicine tools. But that doesn't mean that it can't be done any dang time. Because it can! It's good to have quiet time, to get in touch with ourselves without a ton of distractions and things to do.

So here's what I want you to do. Pick a day (or if you insist a morning/afternoon/evening where you don't have much to do and plan those things for some other time. They can wait. Get into your comfiest pajamas (if they are a bit tattered and mismatched you get extra points) and then relax, be lazy. Listen to music, play computer games (World of Warcraft is my go-to lazy day activity). If you have children and it's the weekend then all of you can stay in your pajamas, reading, watching cartoons, playing board games, eating pizza!

Stay in bed allowing yourself to doze, spend time painting or writing without worrying about time constraints, order delivery or takeout food, or live on sandwiches for the day!

Do what requires the least amount of effort and don't worry about the other stuff. A little procrastination is a good thing!

Do you have "Lazy Days"? What's your favorite activity? How do you get over the guilt of relaxing?

Wisdom Cards: One Step At A Time

Posted on 06:19 by Unknown
Wisdom Cards © Louise L Hay
"The moment I say positive affirmations, I step out of the victim role. I am no longer helpless. I acknowledge my own power." and "I am taking the next step for my healing."

There are a lot of things that have started me on this path. So many things that I can't even begin to count them. One of these things, one of the powerful healing tools in my arsenal, are affirmations.

What is an affirmation? An affirmation is a positive saying that you repeat out loud, or to yourself, to change your thinking in a positive way.

As most of you know the last week was a week of Big Medicine for me. It was full of depression and yuckiness and nothing was going my way.

My self-talk was pretty terrible, I was mean to myself, rude, and hurtful. Me, myself, and I have forgiven each other and now we're on good terms but it doesn't completely erase the hurt I felt at the terrible things I thought about myself.

When I'm in that dark place it is sometimes hard to remember the things I should be doing to feel better. You know what will help, it is just so hard to expend the effort to do it. I didn't write down any affirmations, I didn't pull out my books full of them, but an affirmation did help me.

If you've ever seen/read The Help then you know that one of the main characters, Aibileen, a black maid in the 1960s takes care of a little four year old girl named Mae Mobley. Aibileen tells Mae Mobley "You is smart. You is kind. You is important."

I found this stuck in my head the whole time I was upset. It's not eloquent or poetic, but it helped. As long as you can wrap your mind around something good, tell yourself something nice, then you are taking the right step.

Affirmations can comfort you, they can be something you can use to heal yourself when you are scared or hurt. It gives you a way to take control over your emotions and not let them control you. You choose how you get to feel. You choose how things are going to turn out. It's pretty amazing to have that type of power.

Do you use affirmations? How have they worked for you? What's your favorite?

Love you my bright shining beauties,

Wishcasting Wednesday: Tea Time with Viviane

Posted on 22:12 by Unknown

Today's Prompt at Jamie Ridler's Wishcasting Wednesday is "Who do you wish to have tea with?" My first response was tea with my readers, I'd love to sit down and really get to know you. To learn about what makes you laugh and what makes you sad, what makes you want to dance around your home swinging your arms madly with joy as you shake your hips.

Of course I'd dearly love that!

However, I decided to also add in something a bit more whimsical. If I could have tea with anyone, real or imagined, living or dead, I would chose to have tea with Viviane, Priestess of Avalon, Lady of the Lake, from Arthurian Legend, and specifically from the book the Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I am currently reading the book and I love it so far. I was a huge fan of the movie when it came out in 2001. It was released around the time I began to delve into Goddess Spirituality. I loved the idea of magic, prophecy, and priestesses and I wished that I could transport myself into that time and live it.

If I could have tea with Viviane I would ask her to tell me the ancient stories of the Isle of Avalon, of the Druids, of the Priestesses, and of the Goddess and the Horned One. I would ask her to speak to me of magic, of the Sight, and the ancient ways.

A glorious cup of tea it would be!

I really look forward to reading the Lady of Avalon as soon as I am done with the Mists of Avalon. I love this world and I can not wait to read more about it. In the beginning of the Mists I found Viviane to be quite unlikable. She used and manipulated people that she claimed to care about. As the book progresses, I find myself liking her more and more. You realize that she is just trying to do the best that she can for the survival of her world. You begin to understand how much weight is on her shoulders and there are glimpses that show you that she wishes that she wasn't bound to follow prophecy and her Priestess duties.

So that's who I'd have tea with! What about you? Who would you invite to tea?

Book Review: The Trouble With Magic

Posted on 06:30 by Unknown
First off I want to say I love you, I love you, I love you. The last few days I have felt such an out Today's book review is a little bit different because it's fiction, but it's a book I really enjoyed reading. It's called The Trouble With Magic and it's the first book in the wonderful Bewitching Mysteries Series and I love it! It's one of those books that you can curl up with on a rainy day and spend the whole afternoon getting lost in the story.

I'm normally not a fan of mystery/murder/supernatural books but this one jumped out at me mainly because of its witchy/magical nature. The main character, Maggie, is 29 and lives in a small town in Indiana, working a job that she hates. After getting fired, she stumbles upon an antique shop called Enchantments where she meets the owner, Felicity. Maggie and Felicity hit it off right away and Maggie finds herself offered a job at Enchantments.

Maggie discovers that Felicity is a Witch and when Felicity is arrested for her estranged sister's murder, Maggie is put in charge of Enchantments. Suddenly, it is up to Maggie to figure out what happened and whether or not she is working for a murderer. With the help of some really attractive men, Tom, a Police Officer, and Marcus a motorcycle-riding member of Felicity's Coven, Maggie begins to suspect something else is going on.

Add in some spooky happenings in Maggie's life and she begins to wonder if maybe magic is real and she has a bit of it herself.

It's cute, it's an easy read, I love the author's sense of humor, and it's the perfect book to lounge around in bed reading.

Double, double, toil and... murder?

Happy reading!
